The system works in two modes.

While driving

  • Alternator charges the lithium bank via DC-to-DC charger
  • Main engine provides all cabin comfort as usual
  • APU stays idle, battery tops up

While parked

  • Main engine off
  • APU compressor runs on stored battery power
  • Inverter powers cabin devices
  • Diesel heater available for cold weather
